We just got back last night. The show was very good. My brother-in-law, Scotlawncare and I drove up Thursday night.
Friday morning we went to the seminars and then spent most of the day indoors. Just about all day Saturday we were tearing things up. Saturday was the by far the most fun. Sunday we finished seeing anything we didn't see before and picked up a few new toys.
We spent time throughout the weekend with the eXmark guys and the Rocksolid Plugr people.
The eXmark guys really do enjoy their jobs more than anyone should be allowed. Big companies are supposed to be miserable. ;)
eXmark had about the entire fleet of mowers there. I will say the had the cleanest mowers in the outdoor part. They were constantly cleaning and blowing them off. Only problem they had this year was nobody brought any hats. :( Finally after the show was over one of them produced some shirts. :)

Rocksolid had the new aerator that will go into production there.
The new Hustler Prototype gatemaster was on display. This 48" flips up sideways and drives thru 34" gates.
The Bad Boy mowers open up in every direction you can think of. They do have speed, expecially the "special" on they had. Just in case there were any mower races they brough a 29 HP mower that was tuned on and bigger wheel motors. It ran 21 mph.
The Great Dane Chariot Jr is DANGEROUS. It goes in reverse as fast as it does forward. As I tried to stop the machine in reverse I did one heck of a wheel stand. :dizzy:
The twin motor Dixie Chopper will fly.
Scotlawncare has some good pictures he will be posting later on.
What did the rest of you think about the show?

This was my second time for the show. Really liked the hands on displays. I too purchased some new toys. I am looking forward to the Ride-On spreader spray a purchased. If anyone out there has one please let me know what you think.

I was impressed with the new gatemaster by hustler (you can fit 6 of these on a trailer).

I've been going to this show since 1986 and have seen alot of changes (from strickly homeowner units to commercial). Believe it or not, I think the show has continually decreased in size over the years. Many of the vendors (particulairly hand held two cycle equipment) have not shown up in a few years. I hope this trend does not continue.

I'm finnaly home. Actually I've been for a while but havent been online till now.
Only 7:45 actual drive time for me.
My neck is still sore from sleeping in my truck last night.
It was great seeing everyone in person. No one looked liked I had expected.
I would have liked to have seen everone outside of the expo. Oh well, next year. Altho I did hang out with LGF at the clubs & run into various dealers .
It's really a great city. People are really nice, many things to do, great restraunts, great nightlife And of cource thoes Kentucky women.
The Huster Gate Master proto. was just finished the day before the expo. Thay said many modifications are still needed before it goes into full production. Mainly adjusting & adding a larger spring for lifing the deck up.
Talked to the Dixy Chopper rep. from NY. He's a great guy & is in the process of signing up a bunch of dealers in my area. So I looks like next year (or2) I'll be able to finnaly buy one & have local support. Unfortunatly I wasnt able to snag a hat & shirt.
Most everything there was great. I was extremely impressed & I am definatly going back next year. Seemed like people from the Expo pretty much took over the city. You couldnt go anywhere w/o seeing someone who was there for the Expo.

First time at the show a little disapointed to see some of the well known venders were not present.
Lots of fun with some of the big track loaders.

Well I did get to see alot lot of new products and spent much time explaining the Flex-Deck to show goers.
I did miss many LS people that said they were there.
How ever I did get to put some faces to the names and enjoyed meeting many of you including PJ from P&J Lawncare.
The flip up deck mower from Hustler was pretty neat.
Played on some skid steers and mini excavators, and yes mowers.
BTW I made a purchace also I should have it soon.

This was my first Expo. I was impressed with all the items to be looked at. I was told repeatedly it was huge, but you know how it is. You don't quite believe it until you see it in person. I got a chance to meet Flex-deck, P J Lawncare, and Lawngodfather. Great guys, I would imagine like most of the rest of LawnSite guys and gals. It was hotter than heck there. I got back home to the elevation of 6000 ft and it almost seemed cold compared to back east.
I also drove thru a lot of very dry country. One rest area in MO I stopped at there were one inch cracks between the dirt and side walk from being dry. That is pretty bad.

I went in 2000 for the 1st time and again this year. It seems to me that there were a LOT more products the first time.
This year, I went specifically to look at leaf truck loaders and only found a few there. I was talking to one of the mfg reps and he told me that this was probably their last year. He said it the Expo wanted so much money it wasn't really worth it.
I also noticed that there weren't many software products displayed, and most of those were for dealers.

I had a great time and I will be going next year for sure. I visited with P.J. from hustler and started talking about the super z and as we were talking the president and the head enginer both came over and we all talked for about 45 minutes about their mowers and what they could do to make them even better for us lawncare guys. When it was all said and done they gave me their cards and told me to call anytime. This is what makes the expo so great, we (lawncare industry) actually get to talk directly with the guys (manufactures) that make the mowers that we use.

From there you browse through your computer and find where the picture you want to post is on your computer. Double click on the piture file when you locate it and you will now see that the previously blank area earlier now says the location of your picture file in text. Simply type in any text in the "Your Reply" box if you wish and click submit reply as usual.
I do not believe it is possible to post more than one picture per post and the picture file has to be below a certain size AND resolution. Repeat for multiple pics!

I'm with some of you guys. The show keeps getting smaller and smaller. I had been going for about 10 or so years now, but didn't go this year. It used to be so big, you couldn't see it all in 3 days. This year I really enjoyed my self. Went to Rossburg OH. instead. The World of Outlaws Kings Royal at Eldora. That weekend, lawncare was the farthest thing from my mind!!!!

Wright was there. I ran one for the first time at their outdoor demo area but don't know if their new product was there.
I was some what dissapointed, really went down to check out some truck-loaders, only seen one generic, went to the flex-deck booth and saw the exmark and john deer displays, was hopeing to see LawnGod,hoss or someone on the site. Sunday morning was at the Dixie booth and this younger fellow was on the two engine model and came around to make the turn at the west side and guned it and ran over one of the poles, then put her in reverse wide open and nearly fliped over backwards, Good help is hard to find I did notice at the inside Jungle Jims booth they had two Shindiaw eb-630s for 399. I also liked the bagging unit for the Z-Masters, a friend of mine has one a they do a great job but 2000gs is kind of pricey,Show was OK but seems to be getting smaller each yr. Marks Mowing Service

There were six of us that came to the show this year. I have been attending this show for the past seven years, and it is definitely getting smaller! But still it is a fun show to go and get away for awhile! Plus we had fun just looking at some of our competitors machines, some of them had some good ideas! Sorry we missed you guys I would have liked to met some of you, maybe next year!

I also went to the show on Saturday and had a good time, but tell me why do they have this event in the middle of the summer? Why not in March or April when we are in the need of new equipment and give us the ability to purchase right there and then. Here it is July and I'm looking toward the end of the season and the last thing i'm wanting is a large purchase. In the spring it's another story. Heck even January would be a great time, even if it's cold out.

Hoss, crazygator, and I were looking for your Bladerunner mower at the show. Why didn't you bring one to the biggest show in lawncare? We were thinking of demoing that unit to see what it's all about.

I think july is a great time to introduce new equipment - you get it at mow late summer and fall, and then know what it will do so you can spend winter months deciding how many more contracts you can bid on with this equipment. I realize there are many of you that mow all year, but I would bet it is less frequent during certain months. I had a lot of lawn site people stop by, even though it has not been mentioned. Seems most of the pics are of the eXmark and Dixie booth.
If you own an eXmark or JD Walk Behind let me know - we will add the flex-deck and make it a time saving and fun to mow with machine.
Or if you own a JD tractor style or front mount, we can do you good - 877-353-9335 - www.flex-deck.com

Note to self
Dont take the wife to EXPO 2003
I saw nothing that you guys are bragging about.:(
I met Brad (flex deck) and was looking for LGF but never got together. I drove the twin engine Dixie (I got a shirt and hat).
never saw the Gatemaster. Talked to Tammy from SIMA again (She should remember me next time!).
The show is getting a bit smaller but they are really planing the changes for the up coming years to build the crowd. I heard several Mfg complain of orders being down. (So spend your money at the show and they will go there) I purchaced a few toys and made lots of usefull contacts that I will make good in the next year! Looking forward to 2003.

I'm new to this business and have never been to a expo, were there any deals on mowers? I'm thinking of buying either a Exmark Z 60" 26EFI or a Dixie Chopper 60" 26EFI. On the Dixie I will also look at the 30hp Generac. Thanks

ACER - demo the dixie with the flex-deck - give you 78" of mowing and trimming width.

I don't know about Dixie, but eXmark doesn't sell equipment at the Louisville expo. I know, I tried last time. :dizzy:
