I looked at the s150x, but I wanted a 61in deck. I wasn't even intrested in Snapper to begin with until I found out they came off the same line as the Ferris.

But after using it for a couple months I was totally impressed couldn't believe how fast mine goes, 13mph I think.

93Chevy, I don't think it's the ICD deck. But I wouldn't know for sure. As far as the cut it's awesome. I like the fact that I can change the deck height by the 1/4in

How do you you like your walk-behind?

I have an older exmark turf tracer hydro 18hp kohler, 52in deck that is getting tired and would like to keep it as a backup. So I was thinking about another snapper pro. Do they make a walk behind z with a 52?

You're better off buying another eXmark WB if you can. The Snapper is great...for the price. And it does come in a 52."

I will prolly end up keeping what I have now as I need to get another truck for plowing season. I haven't had a chance to run a new snapper pro walk behind. I do like my exmark tho.

Here's what I have in the Snapper product line. I had it from a guy and I was demoing it and the Briggs & Stratton I/C engine that was original to it blew up. He was selling it to me for $250 and when I told him about the engine he said put a new engine on and whatever it costs me just take it off the price. So I sprung for a Honda and only owed him about $30. Which I never paid as he wanted me to cut his grass once instead of cash, works for me. Anyways, it works great, power rake and has interchangeable blades so I can do verti-cutting too.

How do you like that push mower? My neighbor has one, not commercial but still a Snapper push and I like the way the self propelling is and the cut and the bagging system. Thinking of getting one like yours when my Cub Cadet quits on me.

I have a Ferris 3100 still, but this is a snapper thread=p
I sold my other 52" ferris because it had 1300hrs on it, and got the s75x to replace it, really glad I did, It's just as productive, if not a little more productive then a conventional Z.

I have a McLane rotary mower that is basically a snapper the they appear to have purchased the rights to. It's surprisingly durable.

Do you bag at all? I find that while a Z may be a little bit of a blunderbuss in certain areas, nothing bags as efficiently as a Z with a spindle driven bagging system. Do you bag with the s75x at all?

Typically we only bag a hand full of push mow accounts, I'm thinking about getting the catcher for it for fall clean ups. Either a factory catcher or an accelerator.

How do you like the s75x with the icd deck compared to your sw20 36in? I have the sw20 with 36in deck and im a little disappointed with the cut quality. Would I be pleased with the icd on the s75x a lot more?

I really like the cut quality on my sw20, I'm not disappointed at all, do you keep the deck clean? Is the deck pitch set properly? It has a lot of vacuum which is good for cutting northern grasses, but I assume you cut southern typre grasses so idk. The ICD deck is completely different underneath but the cut quality is just as good, I can go full speed, not leave any stringers and lay perfect stripes. Look closely at your sw20 36in deck underneath, then compare to an icd deck, entirely different, but they both cut A+ for me. Best I can say is demo one. What particularly are you disappointed with?

GreenGiant94
08-26-2010, 07:39 PM
Alright thanks for the info. No I don't keep it all that clean. Does it need to be all the time? I have to double cut most of the time. it leaves a ton of stringers. Sometimes it seems like its only cutting 50% of the grass when its really tall. Even if the grass isn't that tall it still leaves stringers. It also leaves a strip of grass down the middle. Ive noticed it more now that some of the grass isn't fescue anymore and its crabgrass and other things like that. I didn't use to have this much of a problem with it so maybe it has a little to do with the type of grass. I have gator blades right now and i try to keep them sharp. I heard they don't leave the best of cut so I might put my other ones back on. What kind of blades do you use?

alexschultz1
08-26-2010, 08:26 PM
throw out those gator blades and go back to normal ones. the gator blades do great if you have a clean deck but the problem is they build up a ton of clippings under the deck and cause your mower to cut like crap. try it and see, it worked amazing for me. lmk if it works for u too

I forget if I ever asked you, but do you have any deck blowout? Some trees, mainly river birch, have been losing a few dry leaves and my sw20 doesn't suction hardly at all, it just blows everything away from the mower.

nope, no deck blow out, opposite actually, it sucks leaves up that are around the deck and spits them out the discharge. i run the stock blades, and i have a set of high lift notched blades, the high lift notched blades work a lot better. Keep the deck clean, and throw out the gators. Especially keep the baffle clean in front that lifts the grass up before it gets cut

My deck pitch or level might be off. I'll have to check it. I use the stock blades and the deck buildup isn't the problem. Thanks.

Oop's I was on mobile and thought you were the OP. The 36" and 48" are two totally different deck designs. Your 48" deck is the style of the one on my ferris 3100 61", with that yes there is blowout, but I don't bag with it so It doesnt matter, but I know what you mean, if things get wet or thick those old style decks dont really shine, it's gotta be dry, and you cant cut to much off, but if your cutting normal dry growth at around 3" it's fine.

Make sure your baffle in the front is super clean too, grass can get up in that angled pocket and the front wont suck.
