I have a customer that wants some extras done. I told them the it may be a while before I can get it. It is a job that will take about half to three quarters of a day. They are a good customer. What do you consider a reasonable amount of time to get it done? With the rain we are getting I honestly don't know when I'll get it done.

It would be better to ask the customer how long he can wait. Instead of saying it will be "a while before I can get to it" come up with a plan that you can stick to and give him a time frame. Maybe he is willing to wait a couple of months, you dont know unless you ask.
If not
Can you do it on a weekend to take care of a good customer.

Sometimes you have to pass on extras

Bob is exactly right. Communication. Ask the customer. Make sure their time frame coincides with yours. Never want to lose a good customer (or any customer) due to lack of communication.

Good advise. I'll talk with them the next time I am there.

Thank you.
