Do you still have the guard on your trimmer?

In other words, shorten your line. The guard is there for a reason.
Stihls have a governed ignition coil. So you cannot over rev.

The debris guard. Many people take it off to run out the line. I have done it on my trimmer but it will not allow you to rev up. It's hard on the clutch because I have noticed some discoloring around the vent for the clutch. My same model edger doesn't have this happening and it's a year older.

I am sorry but the Stihl Fs90 is a brush cutter, not the weedeater you're speaking of.

Brushcutter according to Stihl... It's the same concept if he doesn't run a debris shield. It most likely has to much line out thus causing lower RPMS.

4 Mix engines have a completely different sound. Get a tach.

You don't need a tachometer when you know you're not hitting the limiter
