View Full Version : Wall Drainage

I'm doing a short wall, no more than 18 inches high at it's highest point. I do plan on running drainage behind the wall for good measure.

My problem is that I have a downspout to contend with. I want to do a pop-up under the base for the downspout.

My question is, can I tie the drainage for the wall into the downspout drainage or should I keep the two separate? I'm trying to minimize having multiple pop-ups or multiple holes in the wall for the pipes to drain.

Thanks.

Keep them seperate. Just pipe it out away from the drainage pipe so it doesn't look bad with both next to each other.

Thanks,

So another question I have is can I do 4 inch PVC semi-under the wall base and do pop-ups out in the yard, I will I have Heaving/Settling issues with pipe running through the base?

Being you are in Illinois, I would not do a pop up.

Do a search under my user name for an award winning topic which I created titled 'Guys and their pop ups'. The compelling topic is complete with exhibits......

Thanks DVS. I've looked at engineering drawings for retaining walls and it looks like I'll be able to achieve what I'm looking to do.

Basically the last diagram in the link is what I was looking for. I wasn't sure if I needed to be below the base, or if I could go through it. It looks like I'll do half and half to be on the safe side. I've heard of paver sidewalks having weird heaving issues when there is a conduit under it somewhere and that was my only main concern.

I will go out to a pop-up, especially seeing how I didn't want a drain hole showing in a short wall to begin with.

I'll post pics later, thanks again guys.

Pic of the trench for the pop-ups. I'm going to lay two side by side. One for the gutter, and one for the wall.

More Photos of the project in my thread. Link in my sig.
