View Full Version : Briggs engine ID from number

What can you tell me about the following engine? About all I have left from it is the cover with the number. Long story about something I just bought.

Its a Briggs single cylinder horizontal.
251412-0164-01
76030412

From the size of the cover I would say around 10hp. It had a 1" crank (I have the pulley that went on it) not sure of length though.

I didn't do any research but I'd guess it's a 12 hp. The first two digits of the serial number tells you it's built in 1976. Following is a link to the parts list.
