I have a 727 61" Grasshopper. THe engine is turning 3670 with blades running no load. As your are mowing the engine seems to not pull good when it needs to. I run High Lift blades. THe grass I was mowing is not very tall. You have to slow down or the engine bogs down. IS the 27hp a little small for the front mount setup?? I run a 227 GH basically same mower and it pulls and runs good. THe 227 does not turn anywhere close to the 3670 rpms. Its more in the 3400 range. What could be the problem with the Front Mount??????????*trucewhiteflag**trucewhiteflag**trucewhiteflag*

A shaft drive does suck more power than a belt drive. also, i was thinking that your machine should be running at 3750 no load. I might be wrong about that.
With the shaft drive, you do need all the power the engine is designed to produce to run it properly.
Check your specs in the book for the proper RPM, or check with your dealer. A little RPM can make a big difference.

Is there any way to adjust the govenor to keep it up there at 3750. The 3750 you refer to is with blades running sitting still correct?

No, you adjust the speed at full throttle, with the blades off and the machine setting still. There is a threaded bolt with a lock nut that you turn, and lock into place to set the RPM's.
The RPM's will naturally drop when the blades are engaged and you start mowing. The point here is, that you will get less RPM drop and thus a higher RPM while mowing, if the no load RPM's are set properly.

Just went outside and up them a little more. At 3760 now it seems better. I mowed some of my taller grass and it did seem better.

Good to hear there is some improvement. Do not go any higher, as you can damage lifters at around 3800 and above.
