Hey guys, new here. I've done some research and came up with these numbers for a mulch quote, let me know what you think.

Okay, this is a condo complex. They called me this morning looking for a quote for mulching under some decks.

There are 11 units in total, 6 are 4'x12' and 5 are 7'x12'.
Gives a rough area of approximately 8.6 cu yds.

They want - landscape fabric at a cost of $89, pegs at a cost of $3 and chocolate brown mulch at $40/yard.

I've marked up the fabric to a cost of $110 including taxes. So as of right now, my cost per unit is about $42.

They also want me to grade away from the foundation obviously, it is already fairly decent, just some touchups.

We have to wheel barrow in the mulch, since the decks are behind the houses. Now, all things considered, I think it would take roughly 5-7 hours with me and one worker.

Using a median of 6 hours, at $55 an hour, this would work out to $330 in labour, plus $462 in materials for a total quote of $792 plus tax.

What do you guys think?

Sounds a little low in labor for two people.

Fabric under mulch is only good for the first season unless removing all mulch including whats decomposed, I always laugh when ppl insist that I use it under mulch but hey its money in the pocket.

Is the $ 40/yard price including your markup & delivery? Personally your quote sounds pretty low to me, I'd probably be around $ 1,000 (plus tax) for the whole job.

I must be way under on my bids unless materials are cheaper here in SC. I can get a pallet (80 bags) of double dyed, double shredded cypress mulch for $200 and have 25 bags left over and landscape fabric for $70/roll. Sod staples are cheap. If you double the material cost, that is $540. Haven't seen the job but if I did it at $540, I still make $38.50/hr. I would most likely round up to $600, drop the second guy and pocket $375. Yes, I am licensed and insured.

I just quoted a 10 yard job at about $830. Includes materials, labor and delivery. That doesn't include any fabric. Just laying mulch. You might be a little low.......but I don't know much about loonies or toonies. Then again, you might be in Ontario, California.
