i paid 5k for it, its alittle pricey, but i financed it @ 5% apr for like 100 bucks a month for 40 months. i figure if it lasts me 5+ years it will be worth it.

what is its primary use (comparing to a regular back back blower) fall cleanups? long drives?

I could see us using it on some of our bike paths or road ways in parks or schools etc. but then we just run the mowers down them with the blades on and it does a good job.

Looks like a nice unit

Very nice.i like it.

THEGOLDPRO
09-01-2010, 08:08 PM
primary use is fall cleanups, i picked this over a push blower because number 1 i dont like pushing a heavy azz blower, and 2 its faster and will save alot of time and energy.

and it will also be used for the bigger commercials we maintain to blow off the parking lots when we are done mowing, one commercial we mow takes 2 of use close 20 45 minuts when blowing off with backpacks, so im assuming this will save us some time.

and 3 i like write offs.

$5,000.00 doesnt seem all that bad when you consider Billy goats large push blower is almost 3k. Suprised its only a 14hp though.

THEGOLDPRO
09-01-2010, 08:13 PM
you know i was alittle leary of the 14hp as well but it screams pretty good man. doesnt feel like a 14hp.

and btw, i want your sweeper that you bought!

THEGOLDPRO
09-01-2010, 08:17 PM
this is basically an inbetween unit for us, we also run a toro groundsmaster with a blower but its too big alot of the time, and takes up ALOT of room on the trailer and only allows us to bring one mower with us when the toros on the trailer. then we end up having to bring 2 trucks and 2 trailers just to tow everything we need for cleanups.

with this blower being so small it fits on the triler with 2 60 inch mowers and makes it easier.

srl28
09-01-2010, 08:22 PM
Ha funny you should mention that!, just put in a bid on a toro 322 D with an olathe blower off the front, diesel engine, etc. But yea thinking that thats gonna be pretty darn big! Especially on the trailer. This little guy might work. Any chance you can get a video of it running and movin around and all?

THEGOLDPRO
09-01-2010, 08:25 PM
not a problem, i will do a video tommorrow for you man, and yes thats the same exact toro we have and its a monster, not very practical, this little blower is also nice because it will fit through fences.

srl28
09-01-2010, 08:27 PM
Monster and not 100% practical I'm sure but is it powerful and worth it otherwise? Say if trailer space and all wasnt a problem. Yea please do with the video, I'm super curious how this goes

THEGOLDPRO
09-01-2010, 08:29 PM
forgot to mention, if you have a choice between finding a gas toro, or a diesel toro, buy the gas version, the diesel engine doesnt rev up as high and doesn't blow the leaves half as hard as the gas engine does. the gas engines scream and out perform the diesel by double.

mowerbrad
09-01-2010, 09:10 PM
I tried the big hurricane blow-vac and that thing was a monster, it out performed any wb leaf blower by alot.

The $5k price tag sounds pretty appealling and the unit looks well built. I'm excited to see the video of it.

Congrats on the new purchase!!!

Guess the diesel isnt all that good then huh. Its got 2500hrs on it, buy it now is 2700, bid is like 500 now. I'll see what these blo-vacs are like, toro doesnt seem worth it.

Anyone have an accurate idea on how much the larger hurricane blo-vac is?

THEGOLDPRO
09-01-2010, 09:43 PM
the larger hurricane blower is 10k

I thought when I talked with the company owners a couple years ago the larger hurricane was near $11k-$12k?

ok here is the video, the blower is a day old so i turned down the throttle screw a bit to break it in, figured i might as well break it in gently before we start running it full tilt for 8 hours a day, so the throttle is about 3/4 in the video.

we dont really have any leaves to blow yet so this is basically to show how it works.

Unless 1 guy is gonna push 3 wb blowers and run a mower with a leaf plow, it really is like comparing apples and dump trucks.

yea some people dont understand the work smarter not harder logic, fact is i hate push blowers, infact i hate them with a passion. im entirely too fat to be pushing a 75 pound push blower with 3 inch wheels around all my yards.

And like i stated earlier, had the guy from new jersey who clearly cant read noticed, i also have a toro groundsmaster with an olathe blower on it. which will blow anything and everything my litte heart desires. this machine has a totaly diffrent use for me. My toro is big and goofy and doesnt fit into alot of places, such as smaller fences, tennis courts (4 of the houses i mow have tennis courts on the property), will also be used on my commercial accounts that usualy take us 45 minuts to blow off with backpacks ECT....

so weather or not YOU think its worth 5k is of no interest to me because you clearly dont have a use for it. i however have plenty of uses for a blower like this and will use the crap out of it.

my guess would be the same reason my parents bussiness doesnt....my parents go by the rule dont get a dump unless you absolutely need to carry more than a pickup with sides or an insert can. that is because that truck can then drive on the merrit and isnt listed as a commercial vehicle but a comb.

here is a video of the blower after 3 full days of rain, this was the first yard we went to and the leaves were soaking wet, i figured there is no better time to make a video of how well a blower does then using it after a 3 day rain.

you can see the leaves near the big tree had some sunlight on them and dried up alittle, and you can see how much further it throws the dry ones over the soaking wet ones that didnt get any sun yet. this was at like 8am it stopped raiing at about 5am or so.
