blade sharpening grinding wheels

Recently got a Magna Matic 9000. Needing to order some grinding stones, and the softest Norton is the OEM suggested stone.
Has anyone used their medium stone? Should I try one out, or will I not like it?

Just make sure it is the coarsest stone you can get. Otherwise, there are just too many heat and bluing issues.
