I am launching my lawn care business this fall, though not ideal, I want to capture as much fall business and winter services as possible to get a head start on next spring/year business. I have paid for a very targeted lead list of 3200 homes with at least $60k income and above in my area.

What would be the best strategy for utilizing these leads (addresses only). I don't want to spend $3k to distribute direct mailing cards (maybe in a few yrs for another campaign), instead I am planning on the exhaustive effort of sending out professional intro letter instead for new customers with hand written envelopes for more personalized approach (hoping this gets more of them opened).

Is it worth it to put a few ads in local community papers promoting the fall services? or should i plan on canvassing neighborhoods with flyers? or both?

Looking for quick ideas, as fall season will start up in next few weeks...thanks!

buy an ice cream truck, and instead of selling ice cream pass out fliers to the kids.

Or give out free ice cream so the kids will tell their parents about you and your business. Have a business card attached to the napkins that the kids take. Lime sherbert ice cream world be perfect.

After reading this, an idea popped in my head. You can tape advertisement on holloween candy.
Or, do a mailing campaign with a contest. All they have to do is email you there name and address to enter for a years worth of free lawn care. The ones that enter will obviously be interested in your service and you will have a list of potential clients to Target during the season.
It always surprises me how long some people will keep a business card or flier.

I am in the same situation with starting my buisness this fall. I was researching some marketing ideas and I came across this site; including the magnet buisness card would be good to add to your hand written envelopes. I personly would open a hand written envelope. Good idea.

Local news rags work for getting name recognition. Join your local Chamber of Commerce and network through groups like the Loins.

Flyers in newspaper boxes.
I believe that is a federal offense, felony, same as putting them into mailboxes.
