Having a problem with MAG-9000. The grinding wheel, despite having a lot of wheel remaining, will not lower any closer to the work table to produce the desired 30 degree edge. Product purchased at expo in Louisville in 2009. An advice?

Hello TurfCo, LLC

Best way to diagnose is to first take the grinding wheel off so that you can see inside the body of the MAG-9000. Sometimes if the MAG-9000 is used infrequently grinding dust can build-up on the threaded rod that adjusts the wheel up and down. The grinding debris/dust can sometimes jam the threaded rod to the riser-block.

You can clean off the threaded rod with a rag and some WD-40, putting some light oil on the threaded rod can also be helpful.

For general care it is a good idea to use compressed air and blow the grinding dust and etc out of the MAG-9000 body every few uses.

Another possiblity is that the set-screw in the crank handle is loose, and just turning on the shaft - rather than rotating the threaded rod.

You can check those two items - if you have any further difficulty please don't hesitate to call 800-328-1110

I have a problem with the pivot body (part # 9000-01) coming in contact with the motor and not letting the wheel lower further. There is still plenty of grinding wheel left that could be used (roughly 1.25" from the lowest point on the wheel to the paper.) What can I do to get more utility from this wheel?

Hello TurfCo, LLC

I will give you a call on Monday, or also try contacting me. When we speak I'll need you to be in front of the MAG-9000 with the grinding wheel off.

This will be solved much faster by phone than multiple forum posts.

pictures are to show:

1. Amount of wheel remaining.

2. With wheel in raised position, you can see on the body of the motor where the pivot bracket comes in contact with the motor.

3. Lastly, with the wheel lowered, you can see where motor does contact bracket.
