Hey guys, I need help ID'ing this motor as I need to buy a carb for it. Better yet, if someone has the Kohler part number for the correct carb that'd be great. The sticker has come off and can't find any numbers, etc on it. Thanks for any/all help w/this.

What are the 2nd and 3rd engines you are referring to?

Kohler listed all three engines as being used by Toro;

CV492 Spec 27525, CV493 spec 27520, CV493 spec 27529

They are all Command Vertical 18hp engines.....

But it's a replacement, there's a decent chance my particular motor was never used by Toro. Are there any stampings on the block of Kohler motors? There must be some way to identify them other than the sticker.

You need a carb? Look on the carb, some have a part number on them.

There is no way to ID it without the spec number. No there is nothing stamped into the block.

Take the air cleaner cover off.

No, I don't have the carb. I can't believe the block isn't stamped at all, this is proving to be a lot more difficult than I thought it'd be!

Take the air cleaner cover off.
ok...then what?

Where did the carb go? Those pics appear to be a fully assembled engine. What is holding the air filter and intake elbow up?

Honestly if the tag is gone and you dont have the carb that was originally on the engine you are pretty much SOL. Buy a replacement engine, write down the numbers.

I have no idea what happened to the carb. I bought a few older Toro walkbehinds and this was one of them. The intake elbow and filter housing was just slid on the carb studs.

Buy a new engine? Really? Not much of a solution IMO but thanks anyway.

Sometimes the engine label is installed behind the air cleaner cover because it
s a more protected area of the shroud.
