Hello

We are buying a property. It has 12 acres of lawn, including soccer field. Previous owner used jac HR-5111 so I decided to buy the same machine. I Found one with over 8000 hours on it. It was professionally maintained but still it seems quite a lot to me. What do you guys think? Is $7k for it a good deal?

Thanks for your advice.

Nope - I become highly suspect of any diesel machine with over 4K hours let alone 8K hours. For 12 acres that HR-5111 is a bit large - I'd check out a 72" front mount machine like a Toro Groundsmaster, Gravely PM or Ransomes equivalent.
For 8 grand you should be able to find a used Toro 6700-D with Lastec rotary units with under 3500 hours if you are dead set on a wide area mower.

After I talked to authorized serviced center and they told me that it all depends on how well the machine was maintained. There are some machines out there with 15k hours.

I think I will still go for it.

how many miles can you make on your 5111 before you get new one?

Here was one for less cost with about half the hours:

Or here:

Here's another with a whole lot less hours:

I wouldn't pay that much, but I'm not in the market for one either.

If you figure the majority of those hours has been full throttle, and just to be conservative, go with 50 MPH, that is the equivalent of 400,000 miles.

And the engine is just one small part. You have hydrostatic transmission\hydro pump, 7 hydro motors for blades, frame that has been used hard, radiator, axles, etc, etc, etc.
