Here in central Texas 35 cuts is the average although contracts often call for 42. If you get lucky and have an account you over seed with Rye you could be looking at 48 cuts. I'm originally from Augusta Maine and I couldn't even imagine trying to make a living there. I'd be surprised if the Augusta area needed even 25.

35 here, from March till Oct. Many times we get extra stuff from over seeding. Jan and Feb are our coldest months so a lot of clean up and tree work then. We try to ramp up the power washing starting in Sept and keep it going till Feb pretty hard core.

Never really ends, just tapers down, Nov will get 3 cuts, Dec Jan and Feb will get2. You can't tell until you are in it. Last year was so cold I went almost 3 months without cutting.:usflag:

Regular customers still pay the same price. This is understood up front, helps make up for the brutal summers here. I also use the time to sell other services, mulch, hardscape, gutters, pressure washing, holiday decorations. I actually make more on the projects during the winter.:usflag:

33-35 in Oregon where we are at. Contracts are annual billed in equal monthly payments. So our down time is really Dec thru end of Feb. Usually need to throw in a quick dress up cut there somewhere. I gearing down to do 2 cuts in Oct this year. Plus we will be installing 40k of pansies for winter color, takes about 1200 hours about 850 are extra with the rest in contract.

28-30 is usually the average here in southern New England. Contracts are based on 30 cuts for the most part. We start early April and final regular mowing is usually mid to late October. Then all lawns get cut after doing leaves.

Last year we cut 31 times because it was a cool wet summer. This year we will probably average 26-27 because we skipped some over the hot and dry summer.

It's built into my agreement. I dont charge more when I come 5 times in June and July so I wont discount in December and January. Haven't had any problems with it. I just promise the yard will always look maintained and thats what my customers want. I will rarely take on one time cuts unless they are desperate and willing to pay for the nightmare they know they are calling about.:usflag:

52 for lawns that are worth servicing. As few as 12 for the ones I normally will have nothing to do with. 365 day growing season.
