My Airens snowblower has a 8.0 HP Tecumseh Snow King engine on it. There is a recall that is involved with the fuel shut-off valve, in which gas could leak out of the shut-off valve and cause a fire. Would it be ok to take out the gas hose system for the fuel shut-of valve and install a single hose running to the carb? Also, when i prime the engine before startup, fuel leaks out of the intake end of the carb. Is this another safety issue?

Why not just have the recall work done? Should be free.
If you decide to just replace the fuel line, get yourself an inline shut off valve and install yourself ($3-6 at auto parts store)

Leaking fuel is a safety issue-sounds like a gasket needs replacing.

If you dont have a local dealer here is an online source for Ariens snowblower parts.
