I sell through shopify now but I'm just wondering if I couldn't do better for less. They and places like GoDaddy have design plans to make it simple to get started but the monthly fees are 79 and up. It seems to me I could get a professional to build my e-commerce storefront and then get it on the www without the high monthly costs. Am I wrong? Is using a GoDaddy type site the best way to go? I'll do some independent research but your 2 cents is appreciated.

What are you selling?
You can get a pretty simple ecommerce website built for a decent price. I am looking into this for a line of furniture I built. Quotes I got were 300-500 (outsourced), thats with a Content Management System(CMS) as well, then all you have to worry about is the monthly hosting cost and paypal fees, yearly domain name registration ( I might be missing out on some expenses.
Just an Idea, I'm not sure what I'm going to do yet myself. This route would require more time investment to investigate different developers , but could pay off more in the long run.
