View Full Version : Need some ideas on installing a dry creek bed

I have a customer who wants a dry creek bed installed where his driveway and gutters drain. It leaves the grass matted after a heavy rain, and he wants to just add some interest to the area. If anyone has some cool photos/ideas of a similar type job, I would greatly appreciate the help. I am kinda drawing a blank on this one. I just finished installing a flagstone walk, steps, and patio. And I just need to make this guy happy.
Site details: Full sun, with some evening shade cast by large oaks.

Thanks for the pics...they are great. Did you excavate the creek bed down, build up the sides, or just deal with existing topography? Also, any base under creek bed, or simply mat and stone?

All depends on the space you're working with, but the typical approach is to excavate 6-18 inches in the center of the bed (depending on the size of stone used, width of bed and lay of land, etc.), lay down landscape fabric and add stone.
