I am looking at buying a 2001 Hustler zero turn. It has a 52" deck and a 23 horse kawi motor with 1200hrs. on it. It is in decent coniditon. He told me to make him an offer. What would you guys pay for it. Thanks for the help.

I love guys that ask you to make a offer, it puts you as the buyer in a awkward situation, try and find out where he is at on it and then ask the same question, you will probably get alot more responses. As for me, well if he put it out there for me to offer i wouldn't be shy go low and know your limit on the up. JMO

got a pic?

trade in-wholesale on that machine is 1200-1600, used retail private seller can be as high as 3000. This also really depends on condition, of course, and the time of year. Right now, if it in decent cosmetic shape (really matters) I would offer 1750+-. just my expert opinion.

I would offer as low as your comfortable with and then you can see his reaction and what he comes back with. This will give you a good idea of what he's REALLY wanting for it. He's just hoping that by having you make an offer you overshoot what he would have asked anyway. What probably happened is he realizes its a bit older with an uncomfortable amount of hours and wants to get as much as he can so he wants people to throw him offers. Offer under 2 grand and check his reaction and go from there. As the buyer I would really only be concerned with the engine condition. All the hours on this one engine or was it rebuilt or replaces?? Do every external engine check you can. Look at oil, how the spark plug looks, filter, and overall shape of engine cosmetically. A 2001 mower is 1200 hours on mower and engine is a completely different machine than a 2001 with a recently rebuilt or replaced engine. 2nd priority would be the hydros. Let us know how it goes and what you find out.

Is there a kelly blue book sort of thing for commercial ztrs???

Now that I've seen a pic and realize you are in Pa, I see rust rust rust. A real negative to value. Cosmetics are alot of the value in used machines, aside from the obvious that the units mechanical condition dictates value. As a wholesaler I would give no more than 850 but I would shoot for 600. Private retail, 1300 as-is, 1750 painted. This is a dated unit, no ROPS, moderate hours, missing discharge chute (of course), seat is prob not very comfy. But it is a hustler and they are TOUGH machines, mated to a good engine.

Just my 2 cents.

I was gonna say, a grand or slightly less.
That machine looks a little rough, and it is WELL used.

Cool, what would a 2010 John Deere Z925 with 150 hours be worth do you think. Iv been trying to figure out a value for a private sale... Thinking of going with a 997 possibly.

Good choice, the 997 is a bad a$$. This time of year its tough with a high end unit with low hours, not too many high end buyers. Lots of range, I would put it at 7000-9000. Begining of the season, next year, 8000-9500 all day long, depending on location. This economy has scewed the figures but there is still a market. Trade in would be 6200-7300, higher at a deere dealer.
