I have a Super Z with a 25hp Kaw and my check engine light has started to come on after it is warmed up and I idol it down. The manual says nothing about it and the dealer told me not to worry about it as long as the my oil is full. Does anyone know what the check engine light is for?
There is about 400hrs on the motor and is the only warning light on this unit.
Thank you for any help on this matter.

The check engine light is for low oil / pressure.
How old is this mower? how many hours are on it?

About 400hr bought new in 2007, change oil every 50 hours it only comes on
when i idol the engine down while engine is hot. It has been doing this half the summer. I use oil that is in the manual, Should I change the oil that Im using? Could this of damaged the engine running it like this?
Thanks for the fast reply!

I would change the oil over to 30w and see if it does it still.
From what it sounds like your pressure is low at idle.
Whether it caused damage or not, Iím not sure, you dont run the mower at idle to mow.

Thanks for the response.
I do run 30w from the service center I bought the mower from.
Once the motor cools down the light goes out.
Should I switch to a thicker oil or just keep running 30w?

I wouldnít switch to a thicker oil.
You should talk to your dealer about checking the engine oil pressure to make sure it is ok.

Make sure anything that has to do with cooling is clean and free of debris. Blow out with air compressor. I blow off the entire mower at the end of the day. Raise up the seat and get everywhere. A clean machine is a happy machine and will last longer.
