HELP, getting cold, need to protect trees

We have trees, and its cold, these trees are not planted. will the cold hurt the roots? i would like to know quickly, and if it will hurt the roots, what should i do about it?

It never hurts to mulch them in this time of year - I assume these are trees that will be planted before the end of the season?

Mulch them and they should be okay. It's not so much the freeze that bothers them as the quick freeze and quick thaw. Mulch will help slow that down.
