You can special order any of them as long as you've got some big cash. Oshkosh and freightliner both make a 6 wheel drive chassis and can handle 60,000 plus pounds. In all reality its not really a good thing to have one just get a diff locker. The extra weight means less payload and you will most likely will still get stuck. Save the extra money and call a tow truck a few times.

On a 5500 is different I thought we were talking big trucks. It wont be like 4x4 on a 2500 but would be great for plowing or just a little extra. I've seen it on F650 and F750 but its not really going to get you out of any nasty spot on one that big. Check the new dodge 5500 they may have 4x4 as well.

The ONLY time 4 wheeldrive is usefull on a F450/550 4500/5500 Chev/Dodge is in the snow. Get into anything soft or mud forget it these trucks sink like the titanic. I have asked people with 4 wheeldrive trucks bigger than a dually F-350.

You look at it this way the empty weight of a 450-550 is 9000-10,000lbs any bit of tire spin the truck sinks.
