View Full Version : First experience with Pocket Gophers

I live in Vancouver WA (near Portland OR) and I have 2 bi-weekly maintenance clients that have horrible pocket gopher (?) problems in only one area of their yards. Both accounts are with Elderly fixed income, and cost is somewhat prohibitive... What are my options for getting rid of these pests? I have heard of Talpirid, as well as Food Source Control, Fencing, Flooding, Fuming with Exhaust, and Trapping...

Do these little shits feed above ground (Plant Damage)? If the area is isolated, how can I identify & eliminate their Food Source? How many pocket gophers usually den together if I see 6-7 holes in corner of yard?

I appreciate any help, feedback, horror stories, and all else =)... This is my first year as an LCO and my first dealings with gopher / mole problems.

Juicy fruit gum chew it to get it to a ball and then put it in the hole hanging from a string gets them all the time

That's the best way we did it at the club. Guys would just chew and put it the hole and two days later no more
