I had a Badboy loaner this season and it did better on slopes than my regular ZTR.

Gravely or hustler. Gravely make a stand on and walk behind ZTR Hustler makes a Walk Behind ZTR. I wouldn't consider any sit on units for slopes. What about a Wright?

two more pictures do you all think some kinda ventrac slope mower would be better ?
there is about 10 acres that have alot of slopes around some pounds so I dont think walk behinds will cut it time wise.

I would do it with a Hustler myself, but I would want an ATZ for that location if it was me.

For the price...the ATZ for sure...I believe 25 degree slope rating. A steiner is good, but it will be in the mechanic shop alot, and its 18,000. bucks

I have had two ventracs....they need lots of repairs, but we run them pretty hard. Steiner may be a better option. I hear the same guy is behind both....he sold steiner a while back and started ventrac:dizzy: the problems are always different. When it is running good, its badass

OK I'm joking,, I have some experience mowing some sewer plant levies and i use this mower "Gravely Rapid z" it is very stable in ditches and hills with water hazards to fall into "sewer water " in my case.

What kinds of Ventrac problems?

It has been a bit of everything small on the older one (pull out the welder)....also blown motor, turbo went out, overheating, trouble getting parts quickly. The fan also blows heat on the operator:hammerhead: sweat + dust =

I must say without lots of details..... Ventrac made good with the latest problem.

In Fantasy Land, This would be the best mower for you...

To bad it is discontinued!

I saw this thing in person at my hustler dealer one day. The thing is as huge as a car. I immediatly thought for some reason about crushing cars!

See attached pictures and spec sheet!

i would use a walkbehind with a sulky. kind of dangerous around the pond, when it rains everything will run down to the pond and the z might get stuck. th walkbehind might get stuck too,but i think it will be easier to ge out.

Dixie Chopper is the best hill slope
I have 3 60'' will mow any thing
I had a job once that had for 15 yrs It was 2-1 and 3-1 slope
2-1 slope mow it up and down The 3-1 mow it arcoss
Well New mowing service under bid me And tried mow it with a Hustler and a exmark they evening add duals to there mower Now they just weed eat the slopes i told I always mowed it
If set your chopper up right it will mow anything

Another vote for the ATZ (if you can find one); I mow some crazy slopes with mine and it has performed flawlessly.

Id bet that grass is damp and that deflector chute isnt helping much either. Looks to be cutting very low, set by the wheels on the deck.
The vid isnt high enough res to see how its really cutting.

For its purpose, I think its an awesome machine. I emailed the importers here and they have no plans to bring them over. I told them there was a big market for them. Im surrounded by houses on hills. It is a good niche market!

I own a Hustler 602d and the thing is a beast, made for hillsiding like the one in the pics above. Setting the cab tilt to auto and just driving across any slope is the coolest feeling. I've been on slopes so steep that it actually slide sideways if I spun the tires accidentally. The downside to mine is that it has the loudest diesel engine known to man in it, a Italian Ruggerini air-cooled model. Luckily it's getting a little tired so I'm preparing to replace it with a 1.8l Isuzu diesel this winter.

I have had the best luck with the Hustlers for big slopes. I started out 5 years ago with a 18hp 52" Fastrak zero turn rider and now have added a 29 hp 60" Hustler Z. I have 3 yards side by side that have between a 30-40 degree slope and I cut them from side to side with no problems at all. I know the manufacturer from a liability stand point won't tell you that but I think they have the lowest center of gravity of any other mower on the market which helps them hold hills so well. Hope this helps

I have 2 Hustlers and cut 3 yards side by side that have between a 30-40 degree slope and it handles it with no problems one mower is a 52" fastrak the other is a 60" Hustler Z

It's mainly a matter of traction, and that depends on geometry (eg a mechanism that transfers most of the deck weight to the wheels), and especially on the tires. Traction is a weak point with zero-turns (and for some reason I never see them with drive-wheel chains). It can also be a matter of center of gravity -- the lower the rig (and you), the less the chance of it getting away on you.

For that work I'd prefer a 4WD compact tractor, with a midmount mower to increase agility and lower the CG. I'd ballast the rears because they tend to be tippier than ZTs, and you'll want turf tread.

I use this:

I also bought Toro diesels and a JD 930Z which both handle slopes better than bad boy or grasshopper mid mount.

The videos I have seen of those mowers looks like they don't have a "float" feature.......Do they?

I'd like to see any and all pics/threads that you have about that machine. I think they are cooler than hell!
