I am looking to add aerating to my list of services in the Spring. I take care of tall fescue lawns in the transition zone and all are fertilized and irrigated. My question is whether I should aerate in the Spring and Fall or only once a year. And if only once a year then which is better. I am thinking the early Spring so we would be freed up for overseeding in the Fall. Obviously I'd like to do it twice a year to generate additional revenue, but it could be a tuff sell to customers.

Once a year in the fall in combination with overseeding.

With spring aeration you have timing issues with pre-emergents. You also will end up with quite a bit more broadleaf weeds with a spring aeration.

Charge a premium and do a good thorough job in the fall.
