I had the opportunity to demo a new Wright Stander X yesterday after wards I bought another Toro Grandstand 52/24. I hope they have solved the reliability issues we have had with the 2009 models we have. I will say you as a company have done your best to address those issues as they came up and hope you will continue to do so. Hopefully the (10) models will be less buggy!! They do cut great though and that's why we stayed with them again!!

Got my new 52/24 Toro GS today. Awesome looking machine. It seems like you have really addressed some of the buggy things from the 2009 models!! Good job. I won't be getting it dirty till next spring but I have a question. Did they increase the ground speed on these.? It seems a lot faster than my 2009 models. They both have the upgraded linkage system on the control levers and have seemed slower since I got them back from the dealer. Is this adjustable? The cables look threaded, but I didn't want to mess anything up. The other thing is on the older models they both pull to the right more than the left when going straight on level ground. I think that would mean they are out of proper adjustment. Anyway thanks for the new machine!!

Hi Trent,

We did not increase the ground speed in 2010. We did improve upon a number of the components to increase their resistance to wear. I believe that you are just a little out of adjustment. The threaded cable you referenced is an adjustment. Page 41 of your operator's manual has instructions on how to adjust the tracking. If you still feel that you need a little more ground speed, you can also gain ground speed by adjusting the neutral position of the control handles. Page 49 of the operator's manual covers this. At step #2, adjust the RH control handle so it is to the rear of the neutral slot vs. the center. It still must move freely into the slot, as this is your "operator presence control" or "dead man switch". By moving it rearward, you will increase forward ground speed with the additional control handle forward stroke, but will give up reverse ground speed. After adjusting the neutral position, your tracking may need re-adjustment.

we demoed from the same dealer as roberts for a small part of a day, and then a few later i got to mow with roberts 2009 grandstands.
i liked it very much, and i have been a die hard stander wright fan for years.

i have not purchased yet, but plan on very soon before the new year purchasing three 48 in 24hp models. the ground speed on the one i demoed was just as fast as the wright we used side by side. i think roberts is mal adjusted is all.

i really hope that the 2010 models have been debugged as we are making a switch to toro(already have two g3s) and are taking a gamble with a new mower vs one we are very used to./

i have a question for TORO< do the newest 48 in models have the newer deck linkages and lock like the ones on the 36in and 40in pictured on your website?

this is what i would want instead of old new stock if there is a vast improvment made there you know! thanks!

The 36" & 40" models have a different deck lift assist system than the 48"/52"/& 60" models. The lift assist system used on the 48"/52"/& 60" models was redesigned for 2010. The lift system used in 2010 will again be used in 2011.

just wanted to let you know that we today purchased and await delivery of three new 24hp 48in grandstands. that makes 5 mowers in our fleet that will be toro.

i used the G3 52/27 today to bag leaves and it was great. there was not any blowout of the deck untill the bag was full. did a great job, i am used to other decks that have quite a bit of blowout and it makes bagging them a lot more tedious.

Toro, are you guys planning on making the upgrade with the deck assist, like the 36" and 40" models, for the bigger models in the future, such as 2012? I know u stated that it will not be 2011 but is it at least in the future plans? thanks

Hi Jbell36,

We made a change to the deck assist on the bigger models in 2010 and as that has performing well, we are not planning any changes to this system in the future.

Thank you for your inquiry,

On 1 of our 2009 models we are on the 3rd or 4th set of lift shocks and they still don't lift very well. Our other 09 works so well you can lift it easily. Is there something else we or the dealer should check? Or is it possible this unit is just prone to being difficult to lift? I am not sure they need to be replaced as this is how it was when we picked it up from the dealer after they were replaced the last time.

Okay Model#74569 Serial # 290000422. Hrs 406. These were just replaced at the same time our other mower had its replaced. These are supposed to be the improved shocks but are acting exactly the same as the old ones that were taken off. Our other mower is not having the same issues. The symptoms are hard to lift deck almost have to do so with 2 hands. Our other mower works so well you barely have to lift it. I was just wondering if this is the best it will be or what? Again I am not upset , I am just wanting to know if there indeed is a solution.

Hello Roberstuf,

According to consumer services, if the lift forces were unaffected by the replacement cylinders, there is probably binding somewhere else in the lift system.

i have had the pivot points on other mowers get bound inside and make it very hard to move up and down. i had to take them apart and clean and reassemble and it was better.

i hope not though in your sake, as it could be a real pain to do on the grandstand. i was looking at ours yesterday and thought about possible scenarios where i would have to take things apart and since it is so crowded, it would be a bear.

and then, what if it was not the cause!!!
