Muddy Business

we are getting a lot of rain here in Florida now and this one yard is making for a muddy business. I couldn't even get into the back yard today due to the mud. The mower would of got stuck and I would have been in big trouble. In fact, I stepped off the Velky and my boot went half way down in the mud.

Anybody facing this? What do you do in a situation like this/

I used to have an account that abutted a golf course, and during the spring, a section of it would usually become filled with water and become muddy. I used to just line trim that section. it took some extra time, but i let the customer know about the inconvenience and got paid for my extra time. could you line trim the whole area or is it too big?

if its a ditch i mow it and leave muddy tracks in it. if its just one area i will weed eat it. or if the ditch is full of water i just kind of trim the high spots and get it next week. not much you can do usually the tracks will go away if they are not to deep.

another suggestion is not ride on the velky, if the mud is not too bad this will help.

I almost got stuck today i told them it will be 3 weeks at least before i try again 1/2 the property is behind a wall on a lakefront what a gusher they want lake cleaned up but I advised them to seek a specialist 6 foot tall grass going about 20 feet into the water about 75 feet wide, collapsed boat house what a mess they had someone cut it down once and it grew right back maybe they will listen this time

Tell them due to the mud you must cut it with the trimmers. Thus needing to charge more. Nothing like cutting a full back lawn with a trimmer. :D

Down here, this time of year it is common for areas to be under water. I just cut as close as I can and get it when it dries. I don't trim around standing water, I just wait. I have not had any customers complain, I think they understand. As for as tracks left in yards, what can you do, it happens. No complaints from customers there either.

just do the best you can............trim if neccessary but i would try not to leave any tracks............

We've had similar experience on several sites as well. Have had good results calling the customer and letting them know what going on. We have used the line trimmer where possibile. Most people understand as long as you keep them informed on what going on and why.

The rain this year sure beats no rain for the past 3 years!!!!
