I know these tractors are meant for home owners and not landscapers. But what i would like to know is are any of you guys using them for your landscaping business. I am in the market but im looking for something small, to use for light landscaping/hardscaping and snow removal. With snow removal i do a few places with alot of long walkways, and i need something usefull for them. i would also like to use it thoughout the year too, if you use one how do you like it.

buy a mini skid steer. u can fit thru gates with it and much more maneuverable and made for commercial use. u can probably get one slightly used for same price as a subcompact tractor

i understand what you are saying, but what about the backahoe option it would be much cheap and easier with a kubota than a mini skid, right?

You are right it would definitely be cheaper to buy a tractor. My only concern for u is u will buy it it won't be big enough and u will be stuck because u will always find more work to do once u own it. The BX series tractors are also meant for landowner use which means less powerful loader and BH. In my opinion 3 point BH are weak and u can't do anything with them besides dig straight trenches esp. on a machine that small. plus u will constantly have to get off the machine to move it. I agree that a mini skid won't be the best for u is u need a BH but u can't fit thru gates with a BX22 anyway so u might as well get a bigger machine because they are just as maneuvrable and can do a lot more work. u would be amazed what a difference the next chassis size up makes. that being said, Ive had 7 cmpacts in the last 18 years from 15-45 HP and even the larger ones are built weak. theyre easy to tear up doing commercial work their meant for homeowners and landowners. for your uses i think u would be much happier with a kubota B26 TLB u don't have to get off to move it and much stronger machine loader check them out. they are still fairly small. I would get that and for sidewalks buy a used old lawn tractor like toro wheelhorse and put a blade on it these things are hosses lots of power and very reliable let me know how it works out

the backhoe on the bx25 is not a 3 pt backhoe, it is subframe mounted. I know several landscapers in my area that have them and love them for what they are, just remember they have their limits.

Minimal 3 point hitch lift height & low ground clearance are the drawbacks to the bx line.

I think u will find the bx series underpowered for digging and u would like a TLb better than a subframe backhoe. There are several in that size range including terramite, dig it, and kubota B26. the dig it machine is the size of a BX but will lift 1700 lbs at max. height. if u want to run 3 point implements look at the B26 because it has a removable backhoe. try them all, i mean bx series, deere 2000 series and tlbs and make a decision based on the machine that performs best, not the one with the best specs. there is no substitute for actually driving the machine. let us know how it turns out

thanks guys for the input. Im open to all your input, i am looking into a mini skid for now to get started, which looks like the best way to go for now. I am also budgeting to buy a dump trailer for this coming year which will make a mini skid very versitile. I do alot of work in very tight areas to, which also make the mini skid a good choice. Maybe later on i will upgrade to something larger.
Funny. I have installed way too many miles of poly pipe on the BX without issues; on 98% of it.. If it gives me issues, I put on the BH and dig it..A Bobcat/skidsteer is nice but will eat lawns etc...

Its only rated at 1300 lbs at the pivot pins for the B26

I apologize, I should have been more clear. I was saying the Dig It TLB is the size of a kubota BX machine but will lift 1700 lbs at max height and the B26 would be good to look at if he needs a 3 point hitch. just trying to show there are other machines heavier built than the BX series in that same size range that would be better suited to commercial work
