after all my bashing of fords of i did the unthinkable....i bought another. however, this a real ford, old school and a good diesel, not the new junk. tried and true 7.3 powerstroke in a 97 f350. never worked, used by a plumber. suprising well kept and nearly rot free. clean underside. engine is dry too. this thing has very high miles, 256K, but still drives like less than 100k.

taking guesses, how much does everyone think i got for?? ill wait for few replies and list my purchase price. i plan on throwing a used plow on it and using it as a backup plow truck. i may sell the utility body and ladder rack to put either a flatbed or pickup bed on it.

3500 is my guess and would b an ok price, I'm just too big for those trucks, My knees hit the dash!Otherwise best truck ford ever made. My dad has a 97 powerstroke dually 4x4 wrecker extended wheelbase 825,000 mi 2ed motor 3ed rear 2ed tranny. Truck is indestrutable! (He has 12 08 Flatbed Ford F-650's too!BIG STEVE B CT STRENGTH WSL

It would bring $5500, at least, around here. more if it had a pickup bed on it.
I will guess $3900.00.
By the way, that is LOW mileage for that truck. It will easily go 500,000 miles if you take good care of it.

Pretty rare to find a F-350 truck and a OBS truck that isn't rust out.

ok, got it for $1500. looking at an old western plow for it tommarrow. would really like a boss plow, but this is only a spare 3rd plow truck. this thing has very little rot. the utility body has nearly all of it. even the radiator support is mint. the engine is dry. the miles scare me a tiny bit, but its so clean.....couldnt belive he said yes to the $1500! my wife didnt believe me and thought i spent more

its only real issue, break lights which i think are bad grounds, these bodies always seem to have poor grounds and the lights dont work right.

Nice find! Not knowing what you do for work, but as more of a personal opinion I would keep the utility body. It gives you a spot to keep tools dry and also away from thieving eyes. However, as I said before, I'm not sure wht you do for work with the truck, you are limited with bed space such as carrying mulch and dirt. But if the truck is mainly a tow truck and used for construction, keep the body. Nice find though!

im already starting to enjoy the utility. that will be the very last thing to consider changing. right now im having a tough time finding a plow with a mount for it. its $500-$800ish just for a plow frame for a $1000 plow with a newer or different frame. trying to get away from meyer plows but having another interchangable plow off of a spare truck isnt a bad thing. registered her today and started driving her around.

Congrats nice truck VERY nice price. A thread on another page asked if major repairs to an older unit like this are affordable and they are. Tranny rebuild 1500-2 front end 500-1000 rear 5-700. If you lose the motor you will need to find a wreck and buy it complete and sale the unwanted parts. But at this price compared to 1 $15,000 you could own 10 so that means have a spare. We keep an extra truck or two and you can less insurance, taxes, transfer and so on. Our goal is to buy what we use at 30-50% of new cost and not have anything to be embarrassed by. We were just on a big church job and the GC had a '92 3500hd with 6.5 and 275,000 miles and these guys are major players here. So why buy new?

Hint: Buy a old u-haul for 5-700 bucks, they took great care of their fleets and are getting rid of hundreds of 88-98 fords! Call them and find out if there are any available, u might b able to see if they jjust sell u a spare motor! PM me if you need one, at our junkyard we have a buncha 88 7.3 deisel's. I don't know if it will work on the 97 but I think it will??? Good luck, nice truck! Go with the MM1 fisher plows. Older but much cheaper than the MM2. Indestructable! BIG STEVE B CT STRENGTH WSL

whats all this talk about engines?? this thing runs mint with plenty of power! if you saw how clean the engine was you wouldnt worry. the title shows in early 2001 the 2nd owner bought it with 155K in less than the first 5 years. she just had alot of highway miles and was not worked. ill take that over a five year truck with 50K worked to death plowing its whole life in salt covered roads carring a sander, and heavy plow on the front end. even the steering is tight in this thing
