Hello,

My name is Chris Servais and ive been a member of lawnsite for almost five years and a part time, solo operator of a lawncare business for 4 full years. I would like to thank all the pros on this site for all the useful information i have gained over the years. This year i decided to get a website together to help with "Branding" our company name. It is a work in progress as i develop more skills in the business. I value all your comments good and bad to improve my site. You can check it out at :

Well, i would have to say that it looks good. For me personally, the home page is a little too busy, but that may be the look that you're going for, and if it is, thats ok. But, simple is always easier. Keep up the good work.

To have the site build it was $300 and this includes free updates/changes for up to a year. I am very happy with it so far. I tried to keep the homepage very simple and un cluttered as i could. This is as busy as i would like. I have seen homepages that put you in a trance and make you forget why you were there in the first place.

Someone mentioned the home page being busy.

At least no one will miss what you said if they scroll, but that content could easily have fit better in half the space, because you basically have one image slot going to waste. Its almost like a second photo was thrown in to fill blank space to make the page longer. And those bulleted items could easily have fit in a sentence.

The slide show played slow at my end. Do you have a number in the code to speed up the transition slightly?

By any chance are you also a dealership for John Deere and Stihl? Asking because of their logo stuff across the bottom.

Just looking at the web site,i think that there is to much information on each page sometimes less is more, the grammar isn't the best i have seen and people will get bored.
I don't think you need the writing above the header,or as said in another thread the Today is Tuesday ect, ect,i know what day it is!!
What has happened to the photo page it's looks unprofessional
Also the empty space at the bottom of the page?

Sorry i got carried away, but if like you i paid for that site i think it could be better.

Once again sorry,i'm not a web designer just a normal guy looking at a web site

Thanks for alll the replies. This is my first ever web site so that is why i am looking for constructive criticism. I am working with the designer daily to update sections and modify pages. The photos page has been a concern of mine also. I would like it done differently with a jobs section and a before and after section. This is still in the works. He has also added things like the weather and date. I did not think this was a bad idea until it did clutter up the page a bit. These will be eliminated. I was told that all the writing above the header was necessary for the search engines to find my page easier. If this is not correct please let me know. I am confused when people comment that my home page is too busy but yet it has empty spaces? Prior to having the site build i did a lot of web site viewing to determine what i felt was busy or not busy. I have viewed pages with 10 times more open areas which i though were very un informative and ones that had so many bells and whistles that my eyes hurt and i had to go off the page. If you do feel that this site is not very good as some posters have , can i please ask for your web site address so i can see what i may or may not be missing. thank you

This is what i would do.

No need for the writing above the header,(just googled you and you were about 7/8 on the page).
Tidy up the header to busy.
I understand what you say about your home page not having as much content as others but it still looks to busy.
Could try to take the green bands out so you have a clear page, also make the page wider this might take the cluttered look away.
The background could do with a change the white lines distract you from the page.
Would it be possible to simplify the referrals page
As RodK said is was very cheap, some web designers charge that per page.

Sorry got carried away again

Happy Christmas and good luck for the New Year
