I just start in the business, whan't to know what is best to get between Bobcat mt55 , s100. Boxer or Vermeer. i like the bobcat s100 but don't know if is to heavy (4100p) for landscaping. Boxer also like it but can't find a dealer for it. Can someone help me?

ive used/rented the s120....great machine!! i loved it!! strong and good power...just remember the name....SKID steer...one or 2 turns and its over johnny for that lawn lol...ive seen people use 5/8 plywood at turning areas b4.....i was thinking for myself selling my skid steer that i have,Prime Mover L1300 wieghs 4,200lbs, and getting a kubota b21 or b25..wieghs the same and should be easiers on the lawns with turning..also is a 4x4 and the tires are wider..plus has the hoe, every guy needs a hoe in life lol

if I have to run one over an area I want to protect the turf I line the whole path in plywood, not just the turning area

I have used various brands of mini skids over the past 5 years and think they are worth their weight in gold for landscaping and tree work. They will run a variety of attachments, have impressive power and lifting for their compact size and go where larger ride-on skidsteers can't. Both minis and full size skid steers have a place in this industry but I think most people overlook the benefits of minis thinking they don't have enough muscle. Those folks would be mistaken.

If you do go rent one and like it, let me know. I have a couple good used ones for sale along with some attachments. Check the last post as some of the attachments have been sold.

I currently own bobcat and ditch witch mini skids as I believe they are the best on the market. Vermeer is a close 3rd but the price brings it in behind bobcat at 2nd. Ditch witch is the leader in its class but you have to have a lot of money if wanting to buy a new one. As for Boxer, I really don't like the controls. Demo Bobcat, DW, Vermeer and then Boxer and you'll understand why.

Overall, I think Bobcat is the best value for the quality of machine. The only real drawback to Bobcat is the attachment mounting plate is not universal with DW, Vermeer, Dingo, Boxer and others. Of course, you can always add an adaptor plate to any mini skid attachment and use it on about any other mini skid or full-size skid steer so not such a big deal as some folks make it out to be. A Vermeer mini skid is very similar to Bobcat but costs more $. DW has great power and lifting but costs even more $$. Dingo, which I haven't yet mentioned, is very similar to Bobcat in design and operation and it is a very popular rental machine because it is easy to operate just as the Bobcat, Vermeer and Ditch witch machines are.

Good luck and give me a call or PM me if you'd like more info on the two mini skids I have. I've sold a couple out your way - one to NY and one to PA and shipping was only $800 on each.
