Every one I need some help. I have two Green Machine 2800 string trimmers that I'm in desperate need of parts. I need throttle triggers and gas caps. Have tried other brands none seem to fit. Anyone with a lead on parts I would like to know. We can't seem to get any response from Green Machine on any ordering Thanks :blob1:

You might want to try a John Deere dealer. Several years back, they bought the rights to the Green Machine name, but it never really took off for them, apparently.

Dont know who gave this link to me, but it was in conversation on LS at one time.

John Deere did buy the name several years ago and still markets some Green Machine items. May want to contact a Redmax dealer as some of the Red Max parts are 'cross-over' parts (same GMachine item fits the Red Max).
Also may want to consider upgrading your equipment as it may be cheaper in the long run than trying to buy parts on an outdated piece of equipment. Nickle and dime parts are one thing but most likely you will spend more for parts in the future than you would if you upgraded.

I was talking to our Redmax rep and he told me they used to built all the green machine trimmers. So I would look there for your parts.

First let me state I worked for HMC for 20 years. HMC was the parent company of The Green Machine products prior to the bankruptcy in the early 1990's.

Zenoah ( Red Max ) did build many engines for Green Machine products, However so did Shidiawa, Mitsubishi, McColluch and Piston Power Products (Ryobi).

Depending on which 2800 trimmer you have 2800 or 2800M it could have a Zenoah or Mitsubishi engine. If it is a 2800 it will have a G2D Zenoah engine and if it is a 2800M it will have a Mitsubishi engine, sorry I don't remember the model# on the Mitsubishi engine. That may help you in locating a gas cap from a dealer.

The throttle levers were produced by The Green Machine and will probably be difficult to locate. But with a little creative workmanship you should be able to adapt a universal throttle lever.

Hope this helps.

It could also be a rebadged Robin. Tony

If the Robin engine was used on a model 2800 it was after the HMC involvment.

Two reasons.
1. The units were built so well that they out lived there parts supply. I have a friend that is still using a unit I sold him in 1978. After so many years the engine suppliers would no longer furnish parts.

2. Greedy Vice Presidents that stole the owner blind.

camper,
it's great to have a new person around. welcome to ls.
the original poster seems to have dropped out of sight. he let this thread die almost 6 yrs ago and his last posts were about 4 years ago. i guess he gave up on finding those parts.

I've got a Green Machine 1000 SS, circa 1983. It's a beast! I cut down small trees with it (with a blade). I get parts from my local small engine shop. I can't remember who they get them from, but I've replaced the coil, ignition module, carb, trimmer head, etc. in the last couple of years.

That would be a 3000SS which used the Shindiawa C25 engine.

That was around the time that HMC started building the complete lower unit here in the United States. The drive shaft itself turned out to be a real challenge. The spline on the clutch end would sag in heat treat and throw it out of balance.

Thanks for the welcome MMURPH. I did not even look at the date on the original post.

I devoted 30+ years to distribution and manufacturing of Lawn & Garden products. I will do what I can to share my knowledge with the list, however I have not been directly involved since 1996 when I left an Echo Distributor to persue my own Stump Grinding business.

Anyone know what Shindaiwa speed feed head would fit on a Green Machine 2500? I have an old one that still runs fine, its just a little hard to start. David

wow a blast from the past those were the hand helds i cut my teeth on as a tech. and you are right they just did not wear out i hated that little kicker out board they used. been a long time ago but who made that thing?. also another question you were not the rep that came around and did the schools were ya? down in miami in the late 80's?

The early outboards were Zenoah engine's later were Shindiawa, the 6 HP was a Volvo. Our favorite line at the office for the 6 HP was it was a great outboard just never put it in the water.

There was actually 2 of us from the factory that did the schools in Florida, JJ Johnson and myself Gordy. The local factory Sales Rep was Bob who lived in Sarasota.
