View Full Version : Lights for a 260Z ?
09-04-2002, 12:13 AM
This is my first post on this forum. I bought a 260Z last week and have been thinking about adding some lights to it not so much for mowing but finding my way around at night and make the rear of the mower visible. I have foot problems and often used my old mower for trips to the mailbox and short trips to visit my neighbors. The trips are short under three, four hundred yards so it’s not likely you will run across me picking up the dry cleaning or grocery shopping.
Has anybody here added lights to their Gravely Z, where did you put them do you have pic’s, how many watts can I run with the 25hp Kohler. I like the roll bar that would be an excellent place to mount front and rear lights but the $399.00 price tag is a little much for a light mounting point. Hmmmm speakers and a CD player... No life would be too good

There is a headlight kit available from Gravely p/n 792019. The list price is $99.00.
They mount under the fuel tanks infront of the rear wheels. It should fit the need.

Thanks for the info, do you know where I can find a pic of the kit or mounted on a mower.

For those that are interested The Gladiator sent the pic of the Gravely light mounted, it’s a rectangle light and it rides just below the gas tank. It has a very clean look I’m going to try and resize the photo and put it up on my Bravenet photo page if anybody wants to look at it.
I went by several auto parts stores, Northern Tool and Tractor Supply looking at lights. They have lights that look very similar to the Gravely light, they are called “tractor lights” go figure. I bought a pair of “Blazer” trapezoid general-purpose utility lights $9.99 each, they come in flood, trapezoid and spot. They have a 35watt 5” sealed beam. I wired one to a cig lighter plug and will test it out tonight. If you want to see the Blazer lights go to >

Well gang I tried out the Blazer 5” seal beam lights and they are much better than some of the lights on the regular riding mowers I have seen in the past. They cast a good pattern but the light color is too yellow for my taste but they would do. I picked up a pair of Hella FF75 55 watt driving lights $79.99 for a standard, from what I have read at this forum and other places they are one of the better small halogen lights. I also got a pair of the small blazer halogen lights $17.99, nothing on the package to indicate the wattage, I will try them out tonight. I am using a Schumacher rechargeable batter booster for the power source it is about the same size as the PM 260Z battery so hopefully the results will be close.

I got the lights on the 260Z today. My Gravely dealer gave me pair of brackets from an Airens mower he had laying around :D I had to drill 2 holes in the mounts for the steering controls to bolt them on. The hardest part was pulling and tying the wire to keep it away from moving parts and rubbing on the frame. I will position them tonight.
Total cost around $22.50 :D
Well I tried to link some pic's, didn't work :( If you want to see look here.
I can't get through to your links. I'd really like to see your headlights as I'm thinking of a Gravely for next year.

I think there is a problem at Bravenet.com where I put the pic's, I can't get them to work either. I checked all the links after I posted and they were working now I cant get into my account. I will check tomorrow morning and see if I can fix it......
They look great. I can't understand why some commercial mower manufactures don't put lights on their mowers. I used the lights on my Grasshopper mowers 3 times last week.
