Hey guys,
Let me start off by saying that I haven't been dealing with trailers a real long time so if I'm missing something stupid just tell me. I'm having an issue with my trailer wheel leaking grease. I removed the cap to apply fresh grease through the grease fitting. Pumped it full, then put the cap back on but ever since it's been slowly but consistently slinging grease out of the cap. At first I chalked it up to excess grease, but this has been going on for months. What gives? Any ideas?

Maybe just a stuck Zerk fitting?

Yes, it's a Dexter. It's actually doing it on both sides, but barely on one side and a significant amount on the other.

if it is leaking out wear the grease cap is pressed into the hub ,they may be damaged or not seated in the hub all the way,or the ruber center seal over the grease fitting is cracked or split .that would be the only way i can think that it would come from the outside .if you typickly had too much grease in it when you gave it a couple squirt's it wold start coming past the wheel seal .
here are some info from dexter

Thanks for digging that up for me. I'm pretty sure what I have is the EZ-Lube system. I just pulled off the rubber cap, hooked it up to the zerk fitting inside, and pumped grease into it until the old grease started flowing out. Wiped off the excess and put the rubber seal back on. It started leaking after that, but didn't before. I don't care too much that it's leaking grease personally, but I don't want it to flow out over time and cause some kind of damage. Plus I may be looking to sell the trailer within the next year and I would rather be able to sell it without an accompanying "story", you know?
