Iv always been a fan of the Exmarks 72" cut. I think the Deere 7 Iron is another good one too.

can they compare with the best 60 cuts?

60"s cuts seem to be better since horsepower to cutting width seem to be a better fit. Also, scalping is a huge deal going from a 60 to a 72 if you have hills. I don't have very much time on a 72, but when I was on one, they are just huge compared to a 60 when not in open spaces. I feel a 60" can do everything you need in a timely manor unless you have countless acres to mow.

The added chance of scalping with a wider deck is a given. But I am really wondering about the actual cut as far as getting everything the first time, not having to double cut, the discharge of the clippings, that type of thing. Because the blades must be alot heavier along wwith other differences Im not thinking of. I think I would get a big 30+ motor with a 72.

When my 54" mower was in the shop the dealer gave me a 72" to use. The only mower they had. Man did this machine save me time. It was huge. I have alot of smaller properties but it did an excellent job. No scalping. Even though it was big it did the job. A few passes I was done. I would love to have one but I bought a 60 to go with my 54.

Go demo a new Deere 900 series, or even a 997. You will be very impressed.

I have a Kubota 331 with the 72" deck ,it cuts great has more than enough power with the 31 diesel. Once you get used to a 72 it will never scalp. Just a large price tag

no question about it. The Grasshopper front-deck 72" ,cuts better than any other 72" deck I have ever seen.

We have a f2100 kubota with an rc72 deck. I have found it to be a great machine. I have bogged the 21hp engine to a dead stop in some really wet nasty grass but overall 21hp is fine for average weekly or bi-weekly maintenance. Like Riverstoneelc's states I have never had a problem with scalping.
