I asked the ? about dethaching thought i should specify more. Thinking about buying a walker spring tooth dethacher what are the advantages , disadvantages or are they more for clean up and not really true dethaching. Help me out.

They have a blade with a bunch of holes and they sell this thick line trimmer string you feed through the holes like a horseshoe. There are probably enough holes for about 5 of these horseshoes or 10 line trimmer strands on each end of the blades. We get a pretty good de-thatch with only 2 of these horseshoes.
If you were to fill all the holes you would'nt have anything left. We are talking Bermuda grass in my case. I can't imagine what a spring would do ;) not good I don't think.

More like passive raking does help perk up the turf but....not true power raking or full throttle dethatching.
