I'm not sure what the weight of my trailer has to do with you buying a trailer.

My trailer doesn't like to talk about her weight, or her age :D

That's with a 60" ZTR, 52" WB and 21"er. Also tools, fuel, trimmers, saws, and anything else that makes it way on for the day.

Lets see...my trailer weighs 2880lbs empty, add roughly 2000lbs for the ztr, another 1000lbs for a stand-on mower and maybe a few hundred pounds for grass/debris. So that'd be 6500 pounds maybe, fully loaded. My trailer is an 83"x18'.

I think your 18' enclosed trailer is probably more like 1800lbs.... 2800lbs is like a heavy duty dump trailer and your Z is probably like 1000lbs-1200lbs, I could be wrong but those weights seem a bit high.

2880 sounds right for a 8.5 x 18

Last year when i had my 5 x 10 fully loaded it was 2,300. My new aluminum trailer weight 1,440. Its a 6.5 x 14 double axle. Fully loaded its probably going to be around 3,200.

I have a 7.5 by 16 tandem. Loaded with 1 ZTR, a 21" and a 36", it weighs around 4,000 pounds.

He's not off by much. Not all trailers are built the same so give him the benefit of the doubt and say his trailer is 2880. The JD ZTR mower he has is about 1500 pounds wth fuel but he often has a big heavy bagging unit on it. A JD stander is about 1100 pounds with fuel.

Here's the only tandem I'd feel comfortable pulling behind a Dodge.

Nope they are right. The trailer is an open trailer, dry weight is 2880lbs...I have the CAT scale weight slip to proove it and the trailer is 83" between the wheels and has an 18' long deck. The ztr is a John Deere, roughly 1400lbs for just the mower, just over 300lbs for the bagger, 160lbs for front ballast, plus a 11.5 gallon tank of gas which is 92lbs...added together that is 1952lbs, I rounded up to 2000lbs.

Those weights are correct though.

depends on carrier. my insurance will cover any trailer as long as truck is designed to tow it and handle the load.

not all trailers are built with the same gauge steel. or same design. there are 16' "lawn" trailers that weigh less than 1k.

I have a dodge dakota 2005 with a v8 tow pkg equipped I pull 6.5x12 with upto 4 yds mulch, a WB 48" and a 48" riding ZTR and a 21" push mower I have racks for 2 trimmers and blower rack on front I have carried a ton and a half of gravel with no problems I have been operating it like this for over 2 year just about 80,000 miles since purchase and have been using it to haul for six years previously I only had a 5x10 with the WB on it. I also use a 3.7 dakota periodically and have only had it hooked up fully loaded once..wouldn't want to make it a regular hauler...I started 10 years ago with full size Ram 1500 and periodically will use it to haul I feel the 05 dakota is well equipped for all that i haul and just as good as the Ram 1500 except for the brakes need replaced more often than I'd like to have to

Ok, so I was wrong.... sorry, that just sounded heavy to me. Maybe my loaded trailer is heavier than I think:confused:
