So, what do you think is the best way to go about overseeding in the fall aerating and broadcasting (also starter and probably some 123 ICT) or to aerate, slit seed, and starter? Just curious. I'm also interested in how much thatch comes up (on average) by slit seeding after aerating. I would assume it to be less but I've never done it that way.

KBG? thatch is a sign of low microbial action and/or low soil fertility, it can also happen when the heat of summer is so great that it smokes most of the cool season grass

that happened in the mid atlantic this past season, close to 20 days over 100 and no rain for 3 weeks is great for crab grass but not great for cool season grasses

how dense is your curent turf your overseeding? if it's farily good and you are just looking to thicken it up some then aerating and overseeding with a started is good. If you have large bare areas or large areas with real thin turf then slice seeding
