I found Wire Worm damage yesterday. Kind of uncommon to see them cause the amount of damage I saw. About a 4' x 12' patch down to <20% live cover. Wireworms are the larvae of click beatles & usually only affect irrigated turf. The lawn was irrigated Bluegrass with Blue/Ryegrass repairs here & there & some Bent contamination from the owner/golfer's shoes & the Course next door. The endophyte enhanced ryes were almost as badly damaged since endophytes are present in the parts above the crown only. The Rye was sown last year by the same guy who asked me out to look. He thought it was disease damage last year. I suspect it was wireworms then too. Too bad.

I've got to figure out how to post digital pics on this forum!

What did you do to treat the problem of wireworm damage? What pesticide did you use? Thanks smastro

Wow...It's been 2 years since I made that post.

Though not specifically labeled, my client applied Dylox 6.2G, watered it in & the problem was solved.
