View Full Version : Excellent Lawn Rehab Machine

Is my 1988 vintage Kees Slicer/Dethatcher. There are a few of these older units still out there and I would encourage you drought rehab'bers to consider using one of these PRIOR to hydroseeding or seeding and strawing. Look at what this machine does in one pass (moving backwards)

Here is a pic of the reel assembly with fresh blades:

Any questions on how this thing works?

Why is it any de-thatchers I have used worked better being pulled backwards??

Using a slicer or seeder backwards is referred to 'upmilling'.

It does a better job cause your covering the area slower than if the machine is going forwards. It wants to propel itself forward so its a lot slower when you have to pull it.

This machine is being used in the slicer mode, and the reel I showed in the photo is the slicer reel.

Dethatching is nearly a thing of the past around here :-)
