:cry:Hi
I have a 1720 ford compact tractor.
The rear hydraulics go down when I shut the tractor off,
And when I am running the box blade, I cant set it at the height I want.
I changed the hydraulic fluid and it was very milky, But still, does not go where I want it to go, I have a bad freezout plug in the back would that change anything? If somebody could help me that would be great.

First I want to say I don't know a whole lot about hydraulics so this is just my speculation. I would say if the rear hydros (3 point) goes down when you shut down the tractor (just 3 point right? no loader going down, etc?) then the valve isn't closing or something isn't sealing all the way along the line to prevent backflow. If a valve isn't sealing all the way this would allow the fluid to flow back through the lines causing the hitch to go down. This wouldn't happen when the tractor is running because the pump is keeping pressure up through the lines and no fluid can flow backwards. I have no idea what it would cost to fix. As for not being able to position the box blade, it could also be due to a faulty valve not sending the pressure where you want it. You may also have air in the system after changing the fluid so that would need to be worked out. Again this is just my .02 so don't take it for Gospel. Hope it helps though.

I had a 1710 which is just an older model than yours, i believe there was a knob either in the back or by the seat that would adjust the valve pressure, wish i could remember more:hammerhead:
