DAds truck has poor mpg

My Dad has a Ford Ranger with 4.0 auto its a 07,but he wants better fuel mpg.
Is there a computer flash that could bump the mpg up some thanks.

What he getting for milage? Prob with some ( maybe all , I dont know) rangers is the autos are only 3 speeds.

Ford 4.0's are pigs, I doubt you will ever get more MPG out of that , and the cost of a scanner and tune will probably not pay for itself in any reasonable time.
