I am ready to buy a MAG9000, but I cant figure out if it will work with my high lifts and Gators? It looks like it will but the literature I saw says it doesnt work with Gators.
Someone else told me it wasnt designed for high-lifts either. This cant be true or the thing is useless.

I only want to sharpen the front edge not the mulching side.

Will it work?

Also, has anyone heard of R+R Products? They sell a grinder for $295.00, and it includes glasses, chepo balancer, etc. Ever used one?

Thanks
Jim

We have the mag 9000 and we sharpen high lifts gators all the time.

Only problem blades would be if they are curved mulching blades.

Im confused. Curved blades? What is the difference between gators, and mulching blades? Same thing right?

Should I take a picture of both the blades I use so you can tell me if it will work?

Thanks
Jim

Here are the pics. They came out darker than expected.

The two pictures of the blades side by side shows Gators on left and high lifts on right (High lift is taller).

The third pic (on the mower) must be one of those curved blades you are reffering to.

Thanks
Jim

the mag 9000 & 9001 sharpen straight edge blades, the mag 8000 sharpen blades with a hump in the cutting edge.

look at magna matic site here (http://www.magna-matic.com/products/detail_pages/mag8000.html) it shows the different blades.

i use the mag9000 and 9001 for gators and hilifts daily.

You wont regrete buying it ,its a first class sharpner .
We have a rbg 3410 and the magna 9000 is hands down the better grinder.
I have nothing but praise for madna matic 9000 and magna matic balancer.

Thanks again odin00. Your reassurance is nice to have.

Is the blade hard to hold square to the wheel? I read about some valve stem type thing but I cant see what keeps the blade square.

Jim

Anything else I should know? Should I buy a spare wheel from the start?

Its not hard to use, easy as falling off a log backwards.
Whats neat about the magnamatic is the platform you set the blade on has a cut off edge that acts as a guide to help keep the correct angle. All you do is hold the blade flat with one hand and move the blade against the wheel with the other hand.It has a crank that raises the wheel up and down to set the grinding angle.

We ordered a spare wheel but the one that came with it still has plenty of life left.
Go to there web site http://www.magna-matic.com there is some excellent pics on there .
