I am contemplating which would of these should i buy...

a hydro walk behind with a fixed deck OR a belt drive with a floating deck.

for those that have experience with WBs, which would get out of those two options??

Why not a hydro with floating deck?

because no1 is selling a used 36" hydro w/ a floating deck.

i've only been able to find a Scag 36, floating deck, belt drive...and a bobcat hydro with a fixed deck

I am also looking at Bobcats. Just need more info on the Duradeck, love the floating decks for the terrain we have out here, but the price of the Bobcats caught my eye. I don't think a 36" mower would scalp like the larger mowers will.....that is why I am looking at fixed decks for my gate mower.

Get a fixed deck. Unless you are changing the height at every yard a fixed deck will suffice.

This is bad advice. The reason you want a floating deck design is that deck rake/levelness can be set and maintained at various heights while maintaining optimum blade placement in the deck. If mediocre QOC and cutting efficiency does not matter than get a fixed.

Well where I live everything is flat so that does not affect me at all.

What does flat have to do with blade rake, cutting efficiency and QOC?
