View Full Version : Engine Replacement?

I am debating if I need to replace the engine on my 36" walk behind. The mower starts right up and runs great, the only issue is that if you get into a little taller grass it almost bogs out, and the blades stop.
Is this due to the engine being worn out, or is something slipping between the engine and blades?

Other option is to replace the entire mower, and use as a back-up.

Thanks guys.

Did you check out the belts, and are they wet?

I was having the same issue with my exmark walk behind. It would crank right up but when I engaged the blades, it would bog down. I called and spoke to the local exmark shop and they recommended that I make sure the spark plug wires were firmly connected to the plug. Sure enough, the connection was lose. I pushed the plug wire firmly down on the plug and it fixed it.

Good Luck!

RP,
All the belts are dry, this happens in normal operating conditions.

Hughes, plug wires are in place.

Thanks for the feedback, starting to think it may be old age.

I am located in Ann Arbor, Mi. I'm not sure where you are located but I have a Kohler Command 20 Vertical shaft V Twin I would let go for 600 bucks.
