on a 36 in deere i've cleaned tank and carb? pump works fine any other things i might check befor going to a .shop it's gas problem because i can play with choke and will stay run a little bit.

Many possibilities including:<br>clogged filters-air,fuel both?<br>bad intake manifold gasket.<br>bad ignition coils<br>if it smokes - bad rings.<p>I'm not a mechanic but I've had my share of Kohler problems. Good Luck

Had the same problem w/my gs-30 deere.<br>13hp kholer.It drove me crazy! Cheked all that Mow ED mentioned.Finally replaced starter key switch. ALSO,check this out.<br>The tansmision has a saftey plate sensor init.This wears out,(its just crappy thin metal)so it over rides the dead man switch .<br>lately as the trans.indcator has worn(where the trans speed #s are visiable)we've moved the shift lever between N and1ST gear to start it. my J.D. mechanics spent 12 hrs on<br>it to finally figure all this out.<br>GOOD LUCK!
