OctopusApp Inc. Launches Online Business Management Software for On-Site Service Companies
OctopusApp Inc. has launched its flagship business management web application software following nine months of intensive development. The product provides modernized information management to service businesses from a wide array of industries, improving organization, enabling stronger customer service, and saving time lost to repetitive or unnecessary administrative tasks.
March 15, 2011 — OctopusApp Inc. is pleased to announce the official launch of Octopus, an online business management tool for on-site service businesses. Octopus provides comprehensive information management facilities that are custom designed to suit the needs of on-site service companies.
"The software that's currently available for the on-site industries is almost all out of date, ineffective, and overpriced. It's a grossly under-served market that hasn't made any progress over the years, despite drastically improved development tools and methods, making newer software more affordable and of a higher quality. That's what Octopus is — high quality affordable software" said Sam Pillar, Founder and Developer at OctopusApp Inc. Octopus was developed over the course of nine months in close consultation with companies representing the on-site service industries the company serves.
The software handles customer relationship management, task management, quoting, job tracking and invoicing, as well as labour resource scheduling, time sheets, custom fields, accounting integration with the popular QuickBooks accounting software, and more, with the feature list continually growing.
Octopus is a web application that runs in the Cloud. Forrest Zeisler, also Founder and Developer at OctopusApp Inc. says, "The trend in software that doesn't rely on special hardware these days is web applications and cloud computing...it simply means you access the software through a web browser over the internet. The benefit being that you can access your information from any supported web enabled device, from anywhere on the planet. You don't have to worry about installing or upgrading anything, and we handle backups and security automatically for you."
Web applications and cloud computing have become popular as the replacement cycle of computer hardware has shortened and as consumers have begun to demand access to their information from a variety of platforms, including their mobile phones. Octopus and web applications like it can be accessed from any standard web enabled device, and from anywhere. Cloud hosting further enhances the experience by ensuring extraordinarily high availability and the ability to easily scale in order to handle surges in user activity.
OctopusApp Inc. is a bootstrapped, privately held Alberta company based in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. It was formed in the summer of 2010 by Sam Pillar and Forrest Zeisler, two freelance software developers with fifteen years of combined experience and education in business, software development and internet startups. The company is currently focused on continuing to grow its user base and is looking to expand its development and support team to keep improving Octopus and continue meeting the support and growth expectations of its customers.
