Surprising.....havn't heard much talk about it around here.

My question goes to those that have been to them in the past and has attended the seminars. Are they worth while? Would they be benificial to a solo operator who wants to expand? I am pretty sure I am going to make the 12 hour drive to check them out...just looking for opinions.

Nobody ever attended these seminars? Just seems like a great opportunity for a growing business to get a boost.

The GIE is the annual meeting for PGMS, ALCA, & PLCAA. Each gives their own seminars, but they are scheduled at the same times. Registration with one group gets you into seminars for all 3. At any given time, PLCAA may be running 4, ALCA 4, and PGMS 2, so you have a choice of 10 topics for just one session. Sometimes it's hard to choose, LOL.

Topics range from business organization to technical plant care. Well worth the time and money to attend. We went all thru the 90s, but I'm too durn busy this year and wife has young grandkids to care for. Hope to get back to it in a couple of years.

Also check out your state lawn and/or landscape association. They usually have winter meetings with even more seminars.

I think they are worth it. Seminars are usually pretty good.

Networking with other succesful contractors is THE most beneficial thing I get from GIE. It "rubs off" when you have contact with others who are successful.

One person companies can benefit from that contact. You'll be amazed at just how many people are making GOOD livings from this industry. Spend the money on Breakfast of Champions (ALCA) and you cannot help but make friends and contacts. Attend the "first timers reception" and TALK to people.

The seminars are a bonus as is the trade show.

I'm bringing at least 4 people this year. We bring anywhere from 3-6 people every year. It really opens their eyes as to what is possible..... and my company benefits greatly from their exposure.

ALRIGHTY.....I am getting all pumped up. Thanks John and everyone else for the positive feedback. I have the drive and motivation to make this work. I think I will take mostly the business seminars that pertain to the industry. I can take local clasees on general business here sponsored by the SBA. Also, I can take classes here on horticulture. So I really need to choose wisely of the seminars to take.

If there are any other recommendations, I am listening.

Thanks again
