Thanks to all the advice on here. Picked up a Kraftsman trailer this week. 76"x14'. Never pulled a tandem before, but it pulls great. Added some options I liked from looking around and some pictures on past threads here. LED lights, toolcage, diamond fenders and steps, gate assist, 16" high mesh sides, JD green pinstripe, tie down hooks inside trailer. Was raining out when I picked it up. Sun came out later so I loaded it up and cut till dark.

Looks nice. Hadn't heard of Kraftsman trailers. Not that I think they'd be justified, but I'm surprised Sears hasn't sued them.

Would you post some detailed pictures of your gate assist? Very nice trailer.

I will get some additional pictures of the gate assist when the sun comes back out. It is actually a leaf spring which works great.

I have not seen that before heard of it. What ever detail you would share would be great.

falcon, PM me at some point and I will see what pictures I can eventually send. I am sure there is a patent on it as only other company with one similar is Kaufman.

Does the gate assist mount under the rail? That's the only way it would work for me.

Nice setup, BTW. I just bought my 1st tandem, last week. You're gonna love it.

Congrats.

The gate assist has a bracket that attaches to the bottom of the gate and attaches to a leaf spring that is underneath the frame. I will get some better pictures friday or saturday when the weather is better and I am out cutting. Basically, it comes down flat with no effort, then you put your foot on it and easily push it to the ground. I can put it up easily with one hand. The cable gate assists will not work out for me since I change my blades on the gate.

the gate asst. is the same as the Kaufman Trailer. it works very well and no worry with anything being in the way I love mine, lift with one hand, and dropped without slamming. you will like it. what is up with this weather, eighty degrees last thur.now rain and cold.let me know how it works out.looks great.

Thanks Robert. At least all the fertilizer I put out will be kicking in. Plenty of sharp blades ready!

Placed my order last week. I was impressed at how easy it was to lift the gate. I like their attention to the small things like the construction of the gate.

That's pretty nice, I wish mine had that toolbox cage in the front, I'm sure it comes in handy.

I almost did not add the tool cage JF, but I added it after thinking about how many times I have left things unlocked and have gotten away with it. ANT, this is my second trailer from them. You are correct about small things like the gate. Good luck with yours.

We have a kaufman (think theyre brothers) thr spring worked good but eventually it was broken off because it would drag on a few sharp drives.

I looked at Kaufman but was concerned the dovetail they include would scrape going out of some steep parking lots.

I thought about the same thing. the place that i get my fuel has a steep drive going to the street.just take it at a angle, and no problem.have hit the jack a few times thou.

That trailer looks well built. One thing to do is ditch those crappy bias ply tires for a decent radial. I wore mine out in a month.

I will do that South Fla on the next set. Good advice.
