Greetings everyone.

For years we have been huge Walker fans. We own a diesel and and Kubota gasser. The diesel runs on waste motor oil (that's a whole other post) and now the gasser runs on propane. We have been working with a company called AltFuel for the conversion kit. We made some mods after it was sent last week and we'll put it back in service with propane this week. We use this mower with a aerator, side discharge, and mulching decks so the hopper does not get used...hence a great place to mount a propane tank. The 2000+ hour machine, sounds better and runs cooler on the LP Gas. We are so stoked! After some more testing and field work I believe this kit will be available from AltFuel.

I know propane is not the solution, but at a 70% cleaner burn...it's a step in the right direction!

Huh, who woulda thunk it. I'm sure it's gotta use alot of propane, though. Is it anywhere near as cost effective as gas?

Propane is cheaper than gasoline. But...we'll see about efficient. This engine has never been fuel efficient, this is the only reason Walker does not use them anymore. One thing for certain...it will be more efficient than gasoline when you add in the zero carbon on the engine factor. Zero carbon=less stress.

why not use a SD model? That way it could be shorter than the hoppers. Do you have any pics of this?

An SD would be ideal. As it is now the tank will fit in the hopper with some room in the hopper for debris if needed. I do use an SD deck on this mower so the hopper really isn't the issue. I'll get some pics after we mount the tank today or tomorrow.

Be careful and make sure you empty the hopper.....not to imply that you don't ussually do so at the days end. A hot day in the sun and some additional decomp heat could be trouble. MAYBE

Thanks for the advice guys, but these tanks are DOT tanks and made specifically for the green industry with the original specs from DOT. Anyway, I don't want to post pics till we start the field testing. Everything on the bench says this will be "no problem". Will update soon.

be careful and don't play with the needle valve after it is set. this can ruin any benfits. These are not CARB certified or EPA approved. We can help.

Can you post a picture, the hardest part about upfitting a Walker Mower is where you put the tank.
